Parrot Security OS is an open source distribution of Linux based on the well known and award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system. As its developers describe, it is a masterpiece that gathers together all the necessary tools for hacking, penetration testing, security and privacy tasks.

Availability, supported architectures, boot options

The project is available for download on the dedicated section (see above) as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms (64-bit/amd64 and 32-bit/i386), designed to be written to USB sticks or burned onto DVD discs.

From the boot prompt, users will be able to start the live environment with default settings, in failsafe mode, in forensic mode, view details about the hardware components of your computer, as well as to install the distribution using the graphical or text-mode installer.

Raspberry Pi, Cubieboard Can Now Download Parrot Security OS 3.0 Ethical Hacking Distro

Frozenbox Network, the developer of the Parrot Security OS ethical hacking distribution for personal computers and embedded devices, announced the release of Raspberry Pi and Cubieboard 4 binary images for Parrot Security OS 3.0.

The highly anticipated Parrot Security OS 3.0 release dubbed as Lithium arrived on June 21, 2016. It is a huge update to previous versions of the Debian-based cloud-friendly operating system powered by GNU/Linux and Open Source technologies.

Keeping security auditing in mind, Parrot Security OS 3.0 has been designed with penetration testing. It’s an OS built for security professionals to use in ethical hacking, reverse engineering, computer forensic, cloud pentesting, privacy, cryptography and more.

In total, there are six editions of Parrot Security OS 3.0 with each having a different set of hacking tools or a different desktop environment. Each edition is designed for a specific target audience, featuring more or less security-oriented tools.
